Mission

The mission of Sunflower Foundation: Health Care for Kansans is to serve as a catalyst for improving the health of Kansans.

Beginning

Created in 2000, the foundation is based in Topeka, Kansas, and serves the nearly 3 million residents of Kansas. Established with assests of $75 million, the foundation now has assets of more than $100 million.

The Sunflower Foundation is a tax-exempt organization, defined as a public charity, under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. In addition, the foundation operates as a Type 1 Supporting Organization under Section 509 (a) (3) of the IRS Code

Areas of Interest

Health Care Access - Providing access to health care, with an emphasis on vulnerable populations.

Healthy Behaviors and Prevention - Promoting healthy behaviors and prevention.

Capacity Building - Building organizational capacity for health-related organizations (designed to help strengthen and sustain nonprofit, community-based organizations).

Advocacy - Supporting nonprofit advocacy for effective public health policy.
